Now that I am ‘officially’ studying interior decoration, I’ve been trawling the internet for sites / advice that will help inspire me. This morning I discovered Interiors Insider - a directory of interior advice and information, as well as Sydney based suppliers, professionals etc.   Continue reading

Back to school

28 Mar

I’m heading back to school! I’ve just enrolled in an online Certificate of Design (specialising in Interior Decoration), via Open Colleges. I’m really excited about learning new skills and meeting new people, but a little nervous about completing the course in the confines of my office, 500kms away from the tutor! Continue reading

Great contrast colours and use of grpahic shapes – nothing like an eye blur for the early morning! I remember when I was studying design all those years ago at uni, one of the rules was “red and blue” type should not be seen together. Love how they’re ‘broken the rules’ here. Loving this new typeface by Moshik Nadav, inspired by the world of Paris fashion. Doesn’t it remind you of whimsical times, when letter writing, women wearing hats and cocktail hour were the norm? View the rest of the font here.

Etsy love: Decoylab

9 Mar

Loving these cute woodern clocks from decoylab. Made from eco-friendly bamboo ply in lots of cute shapes. The best thing I love is that all of the clock parts are non-ticking parts and are silent! Perfect for bedrooms, offices and nurseries. You can visit the etsy store or their website. The ‘wish’ board is my favourite, what is you favourite piece?

Happy International Women’s Day!

9 Mar

Yesterday was International Women’s Day, I was too busy at work to post (ironic hey!), but saw this cute video and thought I would share. Its from 2011 and I’m sure some of the stats have changed but all in all inspiring to see what we, women, can do when we put our minds to it!

I also read a lovely blog post  “A few good women” via AGDAVIC, with creatives talking about the women in their lives that inspire them.

The two women in my life who inspire me are my mother and my sister (above). My mother who raised us three children as a single parent, put us through the best schools and was selfless the entire time. Mum instilled in us, if you want something done, you have to do it yourself. We may not have had the best of everything like some school friends, but the skills we did learn have set us through life,  we are resourceful and have a ‘can do attitude’. My sister and business partner, is like my left arm. We are so similar and yet we can push each other creatively. I know I can ask her anything and I will get a no-nonsence response. Georgie’s my sister, was my chief bridesmaid, my business partner and my best friend. Happy internatioanl Women’s day! Who inspires you?

Pinterest and copyright – what is correct?

2 Mar

If like me, you’re a little unsure of the copyright issues surrounding Pinterest, this article might help. I have seen a few businesses recently ‘banning’  people allowing to pin their images on their sites – what do you think? I love Pinterest, but am aware of what I’m pinning and especially what I’m repinning. I always try to find the original source/site and then pin directly from their site.

This article is written by blogging with amy, a site about blogging tips, tutorials and tools all explained in plain english!  It looks like this topic is only just starting, read it here >
