DIY : painted jars

30 Apr

I collect glass. Glass jar, glass vases, glaseses. Not sure why, but I’m always attracted to the glassware section in a second hand store, always trawling through boxes of old jamming jar at garage sales. Anyway, will my abundance of glassware, I am loving these simple, yet effective paint effects of adding new life into old glass.

Design 101 with The Style Project

22 Apr

Yesterday I spent the afternoon at ‘Design 101 workshop with The Style Project” held in the ever gorgeous Bendy Street Emporium, Canowindra. The workshop was held by The Style Project’s owner/design Kim Knox-Thurn, Sydney. We were greeted with a glass of bubbles (always a great start to any afternoon!) and then were recieved these gorgeous little gifts – black note book and white gel pen and a little candle in a very cute, floral hanky. How thoughtful! Continue reading

Dreaming of new cushions for winter, thinking the addition of green to our living room will add some warmth. Would love to add in some dark navy velvet cushions as well for texture. Loving this range of fabrics I found in my local Spotlight.

Wedding aniversary present….to us!

18 Apr

We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary in Feb this year and I finished making our present. Following traditional gift ideas of “Cotton” – I decided to make our gift from cotton linen and wool felt. This was in honor of our wedding waltz to “Fly me to the moon” (Nina Simone version) which was inspired for our love of the song and the 2 years we spent living long-distance apart. I also had some other gift ideas which you can see on my Pinterest board here. What do you think of the result? Hoping to display it in our bedroom, above our bed, where we can dream among the stars!

Happy Easter!

5 Apr

The easter indulgence has begun! This is what was waiting at my desk this morning, at work – yum! They will come in handy with my 5hr drive tonight.

I’m also making a few DIY Easter themed items this weekend, easy to travel and pack:

and some cake topers, which I thought would be fun for place settings:

Mag love: Matchbook & House & Garden

5 Apr

Australian House & Garden is out – loving the front cover and inside story about ‘mums’ working from home. Although I’m not a mum, I am inspired by other women who take the leap to quit their full time jobs and create a business from home – congrats!

And finally, issue 15 is out of Matchbook Mag – must find a few minutes to sit down and read.

Happy reading!
