Food: a Sydney weekend

31 May

We’re driving to Sydney tomorrow for the weekend – and cannot wait! I’ve already arranged the weekend completely around where we’re going to eat, where we’ll have drinks with friends, what sales are on etc. Poor Mr B won’t have a look in edgeways until the Waratahs game on Saturday night! I use to live in Sydney and miss food/wine desperately! First stop, dinner tomorrow night at Chiswick, Woollahra – if we can get a seat! Continue reading

DIY: before chair makeover

29 May

I picked up this chair at a local garage sale – the poor thing is in need of some love. But I love the rolling arms on the chair and think it would look very smart with a little sand and new fabric. Stay tuned!

Weekend bliss

28 May

Some weekend, doing nothing is the best. Relaxing with new monthly magazines, pot of fresh Earl Grey tea and Greek Almond cookie, cocooning up on my lounge reading my new design books (Design Sponge, Domino) and smelling fresh roses from the garden. Ahhh, weekend bliss. How was your weekend?

Blog love : Everyday occassions

17 May

The wonders of Pinterest has found me a new, gorgeous lifestyle blog – I feel so relaxed and dreamy looking at the beautifuly styled images. So inspired, I’m making Lemon Curd toinght (my mum’s favourite) and will attempt a hand painted linen tea towel. I’m visiting mum for the weekend and thinking these would be perfect ‘gifts’. I love that everything is quite simple and not overly fussy. I have added this to my Blog love and sure I’ll be popping by regularly. Enjoy!

Blog love

10 May

I’ve started the arduous task of recording all the blogs and sites I love – and by ‘love’ I mean visit daily/weekly. There are SO many blogs and sites out there but just wanted to record the ones I mostly frequent. You can view my ‘Blog love’ list here. Most mornings, I log onto Twitter, Pinterest and check my emails, then quickly visit a few of these blogs. I still have a few that I haven’t listed. Have I listed a blog you love or can recommend a blog that you think I would love?

A sustainable, Plain English kitchen

9 May

Hand made, high-quality cupboards, made from sustainable products AND endorsed by Prince Charles? The new, low-priced British Standard line by Plain English are just that. The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community collaborated with Plain English for the Home Show 2011 to design and make a sustainable, quality cupboard line that was available to ‘the masses’. To keep costs down, the cupboards are available in one colour “Broken white” eggshell, without hardware and designed to standard sizes. Customers order online, pick up and install themselves. Find out more about the British Standard Cupboard line > I’m loving the traditional features and non-nonsence design. Now just have to find someone in Australia to build something like this!
