Friday wrap up

29 Jun

This weekend I’m hoping for:

Storm clouds are on the horizon and I’m cheering – because I hopefully get to splash around (like a 3yo) in my new Hunter boots – eeee (squeeling like a 3yo). I have long wanted a pair (i’m talking 10 yrs since I lived in Hamshire, UK) and had to justify the AUD price for ‘some rubber boots’. Alas, I am over joyed with them and will take my 3yo neice out to splash in puddles.

Baked porriage – make Sophie’s (from Local is Lovely blog) bake porriage. Perfect start to a chilly, winter’s morning and will give me the stamina to start cleaning the house and washing! You must visit Sophie’s blog – they have a wonderful Deer Farm in nearby Orange, NSW. I’m booking into one of their tours/lunch in August, can’t wait.

  • Relax and and read some magazines on my (recently recovered) chair; and
  • try and attempt to make these hand-painted teatowels here

Hope you have a lovely weekend and thank you to everyone following and commenting on my posts – so great to meet new people and explore other blogs!

Some calming spaces

28 Jun

This week has been mad – a) can’t believe its nearly July b) feel like I’m coming down with a cold (boo!). So thought I best quickly post something – I feel the need for calm. Neutral colours, no clutter, cosy beds – unlike my house at the moment which looks like a party bomb went off.

Fashion: need some arm candy

22 Jun

I’m still ‘heartbroken’ from missing out on my favourite watch on Asos – I blame myself for pinning it! It was a ‘cheaper’ version of a Michael Kor’s Rose Gold watch. Anyhoo, weekly I scour Asos and other sites dreaming of another classic, time-piece. My only deliema is I wear silver/white gold and not sure whether I can pull of the whole silver/gold look? What do you think?

If you haven’t already read the latest Rue Magazine – what are you doing! This gorgeous DIY leather tassle is perfect for my new handbag which needs a little “jchoozing” (spelling?). Read the full edition and find the two other DIY projects. Now, I just have to find some beautiful leather like this…

Food + type = perfect combo!

15 Jun

I am loving so many foodie blogs at the moment – the tantilising photography, the clever use of type and the styling – if I could jump into the photo, I would! here are a few I’ve discovered recently:

Interiors: Simple, country living – Fete Press

8 Jun

This gorgeous house, featured recently on Design*Sponge, is of Annabelle Kerslake of Fete Press. Its a stunning ‘barn’ conversion, originally just a temporary home, which only proves that you can make a beautiful home with whatever you have.

I love that it has a no-nonsence approach, is practical for (Australian) country living and yet does not sacrifice on style and design. Continue reading

Typetastic! typography finds

6 Jun

I am a lover of type – a graphic design nerd. I’m the one who sits in a cafe, not noticing the food, but wondering why they used that font! I read the paper frustrated that they have hyphenated words and justified paragraphs. Here are some typetastic things I’ve found recently, for all of you other typo fans:

a) Serif tote bag, via Littlefactory
b) Love by Dirk Bell, via Type everything
c) Screw Perfection poster, via Wordburner, via Pinterest (link now missing) – please let me know if you know the author

Roundup from the weekend

4 Jun

A beautiful (rainy) weekend in Sydney from one of my favourite views in Sydney – Botanic Gardens.

Dinner at Chiswick was fabulous, as expected. Thank you for those who posted reccommendations – we simply ran out of time to try them all. But will be back down in a few weeks time anyway. I spent way too much at the sales (Herringbone, Rodd & Gunn) and on produce at Fratelli Fresh.

We stayed at Kathryn’s on Queen – a beautiful B&B on Queen St, Woollahra. Continue reading
