#shareyourworkspace competition

11 Feb

Workspaces are as individual as the person working in them. I think they reveal alot about the person, their dreams and inspirations. Whether it be a dedicated room that is super organised, a cascading pile of paper on the dining room, a loft space or garden shed.

web love: Country Culture

9 Jan

blog_country_culture

This will be my first post for 2013, and although I had grand plans on posting about the year ahead, instead I’m excited to share this website with you, Country Culture. Most importantly it is a website supporting Australian made, owned and produced products put together by a very clever lady based in regional NSW – something I too am passionate about.

country_website

The brainchild of Angela, based in Quirindi NSW, this is not only a great looking website, but functional and quite clever. You can buy ‘air mail friendly gifts’, gift sets, gift vouchers, search by theme, serach by region, a wishlist (for those who need a subtle hint), and there are even icons on every product displaying what is Australian made / owned / produced – see below:

Above are just some of my picks but I’m so thrilled to discover this website showcasing the talents of people found regionally and in sometimes unexpected places. Not only are there new and exciting artisans, but many of who you may be familiar with – Sally Beresford, Angus and Celeste, Boatshed Beach Towels, Gina and May, Harriet Goodall Handmade etc. You can sign up for weekly updates on their website, which I have done and can’t wait to fully explore this fantastic website. I know where I’ll be dropping by for the next birthday / present.

Interview with ‘Find your Happy’

10 Sep

The beauty of blogging is discovering new creative people, and finding those who are located within the same state/country is even better! Today I discovered Sarah from Find your Happy – a designer who is now located in Orange, NSW (just a hop, skip and jump down the road from me). I immediately fell in love with her baskets and thought I would ask her a few questions about her creative process. I giggled out loud when I read her responses, we have both walked very similar paths! Continue reading

I heart Tamara Maynes

6 Sep

I’ve had a bit of girl/creative crush on Tamara Maynes for a couple of years now, my sister Georgie use to work for her in Bowral one day a week. I have always loved Tamara’s ethos on handmade and using ‘old-world’ skills – which we also shared with our business, Littlelki Boutique. It seems the past few years, the trend for ‘handmade’ and ‘bespoke’ crafts are growing and growing – so modern craft lovers rejoice! Continue reading

Liberty: behind the scenes of a designer

8 Aug

As a graphic designer, I love the thought of creating my own fabric design. Have experimented in the past, but have only ended up in the scrap pile, certainly nothing I could wear with pride! I saw this ‘behind the scenes’ You Tube video of Liberty’s textile designers. Such an amazing insight to see the process, and some of the fabulous new range.

Liberty have also released a range of ulphostery fabrics – the same beautiful prints, only on a heavier fabric to withstand the daily use as furniture so happens to encounter.

So inspired, I’m making Lemon Curd toinght (my mum’s favourite) and will attempt a hand painted linen tea towel. I’m visiting mum for the weekend and thinking these would be perfect ‘gifts’. I still have a few that I haven’t listed. Have I listed a blog you love or can recommend a blog that you think I would love?

DIY: Glitter Christmas lettering

13 Dec gliiter.

Looking to add some Christmas charm to your walls? I love Pinterest, not only is it another great way to find other creative’s but you can discover anything from recipes, to DIY tutorials and more. This one was added to my “Christmas inspiration” board and led me to this gorgeous blog, Pencil Box. You can learn how to create your own version of this simple, yet stunning Christmas cheer. Pick out your own lyrics from your favourite Christmas carol and pick your glitter colour (although I do love the gold colour!).  I think I might pick “All I want for Christmas is…you“. What lyrics would you pick?
